"At St. Olaf, we offer our students a wealth of opportunities to develop all aspects of themselves. To divorce intellectual and spiritual development from the physical would be incomplete."

— Jim May, Dean and Provost of the College

Donned in black and gold, St. Olaf student-athletes compete at the highest level of NCAA Division III sports. St. Olaf is one of 13 private colleges and universities that belong to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC), which annually attracts many of the nation's finest student-athletes.

The MIAC, with nationally ranked teams, is one of the strongest conferences in the country. Every year St. Olaf student-athletes qualify for post-season play and enter Division III championship competitions. Since 1999, St. Olaf student-athletes have earned All-American status more than 25 times.

St. Olaf is a vibrant, energetic community that instills in students a passion to learn, to develop their spirituality and to care for their physical well-being.

Oles compete with honor and honesty. They accept victory and defeat with equanimity. Athletics at St. Olaf embody the principles under which college sports were founded. Athletes are students first, and competition serves to augment the educational experience.

At St. Olaf you might never be asked to sign an autograph after a game, but you likely will sign your name to graduate school applications as well as sweat on the field next to a future biochemist, professional musician or CEO.
