Angelique DietzCareer/Education: A strong advocate of higher education, Angelique Dietz began her professional career at the Fulbright Commission in Amsterdam and later worked in various staff positions at Carleton College in Northfield. At St. Olaf, Angelique is in charge of on-campus visits and also works with home-schooled and transfer students, which she enjoys because of the unique perspective they bring to the St. Olaf community.

"I am thrilled that the St. Olaf mission statement emphasizes the importance of acquiring a global perspective and that so many of our students are able to participate in the many study-abroad opportunities the college offers."

Personal: Angelique grew up in The Hague, The Netherlands, and received both a bachelor's and a master's degree in history from the Free University of Amsterdam. She loves immersing herself in other cultures. Before she settled in Northfield she had studied and worked in Colombia, Turkey and the People's Republic of China. During the 2000-01 academic year, she lived in Tokyo with her husband, Michael Flynn, professor of linguistics at Carleton, who was leading a Japanese studies program. Today she stays close to home to bring up her second daughter. Her oldest daughter attends college in Rome.
