Career/Education: Derek Gueldenzoph earned his bachelor's degree from Beloit College, double majoring in government and psychology. After a year of being responsible for discipline at a military high school in Wisconsin, he spent four years in the admissions office at Beloit and traveled throughout his territory of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and northern Wisconsin. Derek earned his master's degree from Bowling Green State University in college student personnel. Having lived his entire life in the Midwest, he ventured south to Sherman, Texas, where he became the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Enrollment at Austin College. Derek then moved to Ohio, where he served as the Dean of Admissions at the College of Wooster. In 2007, Derek joined St. Olaf as Dean of Admissions.

" St. Olaf is an incredibly special and rare place,” says Derek. “To do one thing well is commendable, but the fact that St. Olaf excels in so many different areas is quite remarkable.”

Personal: A four-year starter on the varsity soccer team at Beloit, he won the college's Janssen award his junior year and Dawson award his senior year as the top scholar-athlete. In 2005, Derek participated in an Earthwatch expedition to Costa Rica , planting over 1,000 trees in ten days. Now the majority of his leisure time is spent chasing his two young children, Cole and Reid, with his wife, Margot. Derek has also been spotted playing intramural soccer, floor hockey, and indoor softball at St. Olaf.
