Visiting Campus
If there was a Top Ten list of reasons people decide to enroll at St. Olaf, reason #1 we hear time and again is this: “When I visited the campus, I just felt like I belonged.”
Why visit?
So much of a great college experience is about finding a school that fits your interests and personality. When you visit St. Olaf, you’ll have a chance to talk with students and faculty, tour the incredible facilities, and meet with an admissions officer.
As you’ll see, it IS a beautiful campus, and the people here really are friendly.
You can shape your visit to cover just about any question you might have. Here’s why that’s important: the more information you have, the better decisions you’ll make about which college will offer you the best opportunities. That ought to be worth a few hours of your time.
Check out What to Do During a Campus Visit. Our visit programs generally include opportunities to explore all of these things.
When should you visit?
People have different kinds of questions at different points in the college search, so you might want to visit early, visit later, or visit after you’ve applied and been admitted. Maybe all three. We offer special visit programs tailored to the interests, questions and concerns of students at each of these points.
We also welcome individual visitors year-round. In general, it’s better to visit when school is in session so you can sit in on classes, arrange an overnight, and meet with professors. But if that doesn’t fit your family’s schedule, please visit when it’s convenient for you. The Admissions Office is open year-round, except on major holidays. Please check our Visit Calendar to see what activities are available on specific dates.
Individual Visit
Individual visits are offered throughout the year. We ask that visitors register before coming to campus so that we may provide the best possible experience. Go to our online visit calendar and select the date for your intended visit, or call the Admissions Office (800-800-3025) to set up your visit.
Below are some of the most common things students and their families do while visiting campus:
- Tour the campus
- Meet our admissions staff
- Meet our faculty (limited during the summer)
- Attend a class (limited during the summer)
- Enjoy a meal in the cafeteria
- Use our athletic facilities (make sure to fill out the waiver)
