| Katherine Kroeger ’99, Seattle, WA |
A political science and Norwegian major, Katherine always knew she would study Norwegian, but she never thought she would use it in her work. Her first job after St. Olaf proved her wrong. She worked for Oslo Summer School and spent four summers in Norway. From there Katherine used her study abroad experiences in Norway, the Middle East and South Africa to procure her current job at the University of Washington in Seattle. As fiscal administrator in the Office of Global Affairs, Katherine is involved in funding and funding policy for international studies. Of her days on the Hill, Katherine says, “I loved my time at St. Olaf. My dearest friends are Oles.” Her fondest memories include studying abroad, enjoying two-hour lunches in the “old” caf and relaxing on Mellby lawn. As part of her work on the alumni board, Katherine hopes to find ways to make study abroad a reality for every student who wants that experience. |
