  1. Please list your education beyond your St. Olaf degree?
    None
  2. What is your current occupation?
Director of Marketing for a Performance/Music Tour company and an artist on the side :)
  3. What was your major and how has that played out into your life today?
Theater/Communications major... communications, communications, communications.  I really believe if you can figure out how to communicate effectively (spoken & written) you are already well prepared for most jobs.   You can teach most people a technical skill, but it's far more difficult to teach someone how to connect with others. I'm in marketing and never anticipated this career. Having a broad education prepared me to be able to learn a new career and new skills on the job. My experience as a stage manager prepared me for tour managing large groups. I also did good deal of scenic art & design while at St. Olaf.  Learning to experiment artistically and create from scratch, I wound up making some art for our home after graduating. Three years later I'm exhibiting and selling my artwork as a side business.  Who knew? The opportunities you have at St. Olaf to create your own endeavors & projects gave me the confidence to continue to push myself and put my skills out to see what might come of them (marketing myself, so to speak).
  4. Tell us your favorite Ole memory.
Many, many late nights in the theater building working on projects or in rehearsals.  Bowling in the Pause.  25cent refills in my Pause mug - I still come back for those!
  5. What is your favorite alumni event?
Homecoming - you can't beat the autumn colors on campus!
  6. What do you consider your greatest achievement that St. Olaf has played a part in?
It's not an achievement, but I feel the biggest thing St. Olaf gave me, in addition to a great education, is the people in my life.  Our friends from college are like family now and I can't imagine life without them.
  7. Why do you support St. Olaf College?
I love everything St. Olaf stands for - simply being a good person, engaging in community, and serving others.
  8. What do you hope to accomplish on the Alumni Board?
Most St. Olaf alums feel good about the college and the experiences they had on the Hill.  My aim is to help nurture those memories and encourage all alumni to translate that goodwill into financial and/or volunteer support.  Our amazing school spirit should be represented in the numbers!
  9. Any advice you have for current students?
Take chances by putting yourself and your skills out there for others to see.  Meet new people as often as possible.  Never hesitate to reach out to fellow students, professors or alums - networking is everything!
