Maggie Wells ’08, Minneapolis, MN

While on the Hill, Maggie's favorite areas of involvement were serving with the Board of Regents Student Committee and baking communion bread for the Student Congregation. She loved what she calls "living the Viewbook dream" -- concerts with friends, dynamic classroom conversations, and time on the natural lands. A History and American Studies major, Maggie also participated in American Conversations and Term in the Middle East.

Maggie's experiences on the Hill convinced her of the formative power of a liberal arts education.  Following graduation, Magdalena joined Teach for America and taught math to middle school students for two years in the urban core of Kansas City, MO. Drawn to focus more closely on issues of educational inequity as they relate to higher education, Maggie now works as a program coordinator for College Possible, a college access and success program for low-income students.  While her first goal is helping students identify and earn admittance to colleges that satisfy their academic needs and interests, Maggie especially loves when they find that perfect fit at St. Olaf!

During her term of the alumni board, Maggie wants to focus on young alumni and engaging them with the college.
