The exhibit showcases work that spans the art career of
Anne Flaten Pixley ’53, who resides in France and exhibits
around the world. Her interest lies in “that moment
of perception when you are looking and before what you are
looking at

Work”

Professor of Art Wendell Arneson presents work done during
his January–June 2007 sabbatical. Arneson notes that, “beginning
with an idea derived from memory and/or observation, these
paintings are an exploration of questions raised through
formal investigation and contemplation of the spiritual.”

In contemporary American political debate, few are inclined
to dispute the claim that terrorism, in itself, is morally
wrong, however just the grievances of a terrorist group (where “terrorism” is
understood as the use of violence against noncombatant populations
for some political purpose). Yet in current philosophical
discussions, some thinkers do challenge this claim and argue
that terrorism might be justified morally under certain conditions.
Join Edmund N. Santurri, professor of religion and philosophy
and director of the Great Conversation, in a discussion of
the moral evaluation of terrorism.

Getting to St. Olaf College
By car: From
Interstate 35, exit at Minnesota Highway 19 (exit 69)
and go east toward Northfield. The main entrance to the campus
is five miles east of the interstate, on your left, as you
enter Northfield.
From Highway 52, exit at Cannon Falls to Minnesota Highway
19. Follow Highway 19 through Northfield. The college entrance
is on your right.
By air: From
the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, follow Interstate
494 west to Interstate 35W. Drive south on I-35 to the Northfield
exit onto Highway 19 (exit 69).
Overnight Accommodations

rooms fill quickly during busy fall weekends.
Meals on Campus
Family members and guests may join St. Olaf students in Stav
Hall in Buntrock Commons for any meals during Homecoming & Family
Weekend. You may purchase meal tickets for the Harvest
Festival and either of the two brunch options ahead of
time by completing the enclosed registration form. You
may also buy meal tickets during registration hours in
Buntrock Commons.
The Cage, the college’s coffeeshop and quick-order
food service, is on the second floor of Buntrock Commons
and serves beverages, baked goods, ice cream, salads,
and hot and cold sandwiches.
Free-Time Activities
The St. Olaf Bookstore is open Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
Saturday,
8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Skoglund and Tostrud facilities, which include the pool,
indoor tracks, and racquetball and tennis courts, will be
open all weekend during posted hours. The athletic facilities
will be open for use Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m., Saturday,
9 a.m. to 8:45 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 10:45 p.m. The pool
is open Saturday, 2 to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday,
2 to 4:30 p.m.
