  2. Conference Fee and on Site Registering

    The conference fee is $120 ($130 after April 15) and includes a the use of conference facilities, refreshments, a Thursday afternoon tour/picnic, and one ticket for the traditional Friday evening banquet. The most economical way for participants to attend the conference will be for them to stay in Gaines Residence Hall and take meals in the Evans Dining Hall on the Washington and Lee Campus. The charge for this will be an additional $120, due at the time of on-site registration. Each participant can have a single occupancy room in a suite, sharing a bathroom with up to three other participants. For an additional $7 per night, participants may elect to have a private bathroom. More information on this, including charges for accompanying guests may be found in the LODGING section of this form.

    The deadline for receipt of regular registration is May 15 and you may send check or money order, made payable to WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY. Please print and complete the following form and include a copy with your payment.

    On-site registration will be held in the Rotunda of Gaines Residence Hall, beginning at noon on Tuesday, June 25, and will continue on Wednesday morning, June 26.

    On Tuesday there will be a reception (wine and cheese) in the Rotunda, or outside if the weather is agreeable, beginning at 6:00pm. If needed, participants will be on their own to find further nourishment later that evening in the quaint village of Lexington. A packet of conference information, including a list of nearby restaurants, will be available at the time of on-site registration.

  3. Arrival and Departure Information

    Here is a map of the Washington and Lee campus and information about historic Lexington and the surrounding area. The Washington and Lee home page contains a wealth of information about the university and you can have a look by clicking W&L. If you will be flying, you should fly to Roanoke Regional Airport if at all possible. We will be running a shuttle from the airport to campus at regular intervals on June 25 and these will leave from outside the baggage claim area near the Hertz Car Rental Booth. Wait at the

    It is also possible to arrive at Washington Dulles Airport, but transportation to the W&L campus is more difficult. If you must fly into Dulles, contact Mike Evans as soon as convenient to determine transportation possibilities to campus.

  4. Lodging Information (circle one)

    The most convenient and economical way for participants to attend the conference will be for them to stay in Gaines Residence Hall and take meals in the Evans Dining Hall on the Washington and Lee Campus. Gaines is a very pleasant air-conditioned facility, arranged in suites. An exercise room is available for your use on the ground floor. Furthermore, the meals in Evans Dining Hall will be catered for this conference and will be quite beyond the normal offerings of a university dining hall. The charge for this will be an additional $120, due at registration. Each participant can have a single occupancy room in a suite, sharing a bathroom with up to three other participants. For an additional $7 per night, participants may elect to have a private bathroom.

      Check-in will take place in the Rotunda of Gaines Hall. (see W&L campus map).

    • Click here if you wish to stay in a single room with a private bath in Gaines Hall and eat in Evans Dining Hall. The charge is $148 ($37/night).

    • If a husband/wife PAIR of PARTICIPANTS are attending the conference, and wish to share a room (two twin beds) with a private bath, and eat in Evans Dining Hall, we can make that happen for $240 ($60/night). Simply

      You each will be billed for $120 ($30/night). Please include your spouses name:

    • If you will be accompanied by a non-participant guest and would like to share a room (two twin beds) with that person, have a private bath, and both of you eat in Evans Dining Hall, we can make that happen for a combined fee of $350 ($87.50/night). This will include tickets for the guest to the Thursday tour/picnic and Friday banguet. (The breakdown is $120 for the participant and $230 for the guest.)

      Recall that your conference fee aready entitles you to partake in the tour/picnic on Thursday and the Friday evening banquet. If you wish to purchase a ticket for your accompanying guest to attend the tour/picnic on Thursday and the banquet on Friday, the combined tickets are available for $30 per person.     Due to lecture hall limitations it appears there may be some limitations on the number of short communications which can be given at the conference.
