  2. Conference Fees and On-site Registration

    The conference fee is $ 150 ($ 175 after May 15) and includes transportation to and from the airport, a reception Monday evening (7:30-9:30), the use of conference facilities, refreshments, a Thursday afternoon excursion, and one ticket for the banquet on Friday evening.

    For the Thursday excursion, we are looking forward to a visit to historic Philadelphia, the site of the first Continental Congress and home of the Liberty Bell. We will have the option to either take a guided tour or to follow the New York Times Walking Tour of the historic region center of Philadelphia. Transportation to and from the Berks Campus will be provided.

    A gala banquet is planned for Friday night as prelude to the awarding of the 2012--Andy.

    Additional tickets/passes for those accompanying participants will be available upon arrival at a cost of $35 for either the banquet or excursion.

    Upon arrival on campus, please check in to the residence hall (The Woods, #18 on the Campus Map ) first; they will be ready for you! On-site conference registration will be at the main lobby of the Woods Residence Hall beginning at noon on Monday, June 25. Registration will continue on Tuesday morning, June 26 again at the Woods Main Lobby. (See Campus Map ). Complete conference packets and participant lists will be available at registration.

    Directions to the reception Monday night will be in your registration packet and posted at the Woods Residence Hall.

    The deadline for receipt of regular registration including the conference fee is May 15

    You may pay by check, money order, cashiers check or credit card. A link to enable credit card payments will be available at this website very soon. You may pay in cash, but only upon arrival and at the regular registration rate if you have registered by May 15. Lodging and meal fees can be paid either in advance or upon arrival.

  3. Lodging/Meal Information

    We have reserved housing in The Woods Residence Hall for our use during the conference. Breakfast and dinner will be served daily in Tully's ( #14 on the Campus Map ) which is adjacent to the Residence Hall. The total cost of food and single room lodging will be $225 per person for the Monday night through Saturday morning period or $ 280 per person for the Monday night through Sunday morning. Rooms are available both the day before and after the conference to accommodate long distance travel. Contact Professor Alikhani if your stay will be other than the two listed. We have special rooms available for families and have arranged special rates for students and those for whom cost is a potential obstacle.     Housing Needs

    The Woods Houses (#18 on the Campus Map ) consist of seven connecting buildings, and offers four-person suites with either single- or double-occupancy bedrooms. A semiprivate bathroom, with separate shower and toilet stalls, two sinks, and storage space is shared by suitemates.

    The Woods has several study lounges, and one central lounge in Ivy Hall that offers a fireplace and an outside patio. Residents have 24-hour card access building security, laundry facilities, vending machines, computer access, and a modern fire safety system. Building access cards and room keys will be available at Check In. Both should be left on the desk in your room and the door locked when you depart campus at the end of the conference.

    If a guest of a participant is not staying in the residence hall, but wishes to take meals on campus and attend the banquet, the charge is $115 for Monday through Saturday morning and $120 for Monday through Sunday morning. The Saturday evening meal is not provided. Additional banquet tickets are available at a cost of $35 each.

    Please note that there is no hospital on campus, nor are there any medical personnel on campus. If you have any medical condition or special access needs that you would like to inform the conference director about, please indicate below

  4. Arrival and Departure Information

    The scheduled arrival day is Monday, June 25th, 2012. Please try to schedule your flight to arrive at the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) between noon and 5:00pm. There will be an opening reception Monday evening. The scheduled departure day is Sunday, June 30th however, lectures should be finished by noon on Saturday and we will schedule several shuttles on Saturday afternoon depending on need..

    Our meeting point at PHL will be the outside the "Ground Transportation Door in the B/C Baggage Claim area." A map of PHL can be found Here or a non-interactive map cap be found here. The B/C Baggage Claim is the centrally located blue area and the Ground Transportation door is centrally located in that area. There are chairs in that area. Please wait for us; there will be people with signs looking for you.
