Screencasting

Interested in creating brief screencasts to provide lecture material to students or to give online training to student workers or colleagues? This hands-on workshop will introduce you to creating screencasts using Camtasia. In addition to learning how to plan and record screencasts, you will learn to edit the screencast and share it with others via Google Drive, Moodle, or WordPress.

Wordpress for individual & Course Projects

St. Olaf has two installations of WordPress, the first for official college websites and the second for course projects and individual sites for faculty, staff, and students. This workshop will introduce you to WordPress for course projects and individual sites with a focus on creating the structure and design for your own site. After viewing examples of different types of academic sites, you will learn to create pages and posts, add images and videos, choose a theme, and create the menu for your site.

iPads in Teaching & Learning

Whether you’re new to the iPad or already know and love it, this workshop will help you find new ways to use the iPad in an academic setting. The workshop will include a brief introduction to the iPad, short demonstrations of interesting iPad apps, and a discussion of how the iPad can be used in teaching and learning.  IT staff will also give tips about keeping iPads secure, connecting to projectors, and choosing cases.

In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the conceptual and practical aspects of editing, from learning how to assemble videos in iMovie to what things to consider in making your editing decisions. You may even discover why editing is one of Steven Spielberg’s favorite parts of filmmaking.
