2000: Took assistant coach position at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
2001: Joined St. Olaf coaching staff.
John Mahal is in his 12th season on the St. Olaf men's basketball staff in 2012-13. Mahal, a graduate of Cumberland College, works primarily with the post players. Prior to his time at St. Olaf, he spent one season at Minneapolis Community and Technical College as an assistant.
