Olszewski's 2011 team finished 8-2 and 6-2 in the MIAC. The Oles were ranked as high as No. 19 in the D3football.com poll and No. 22 in the AFCA poll during the campaign, which was highlighted by a 30-28 win at No. 5 Bethel University.
He guided the Oles to a 6-4 record in his first season, a fall highlighted by a 29-23 win over St. Thomas in a NCAA Division III record six overtimes. The game was the first of three overtime games the team would play (L 20-14 to SJU on Oct. 25, W 27-20 over Gustavus on Nov. 8).
Olszewski was at his alma mater, Wis.-Stevens Point, as defensive coordinator the two seasons prior to his start at St. Olaf. He spent a total seven seasons as an assistant at Division II Minnesota State University-Mankato (1993-96, 1999-02) before a three-year stint as the CEO of the Mankato YMCA.
He also spent one season as the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Bombers of the Arena Football league (1999) and another as an assistant at California Lutheran University (1998) as defensive line coach.
He and his wife Deana have three children, son Jett and daughters Jersey and J.J.
