St. Kate's snipes Oles in four

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The College of St. Catherine defeated the St. Olaf volleyball team for the first time in 16 years with a four-game win on Wednesday at the Butler Center.

The Wildcat's win, their first over the Oles since Oct. 1, 1990, offset a 21-kill performance from St. Olaf's Andrea Otteman.

St. Kate's (2-5 MIAC, 8-14) got 15 kills from Brook Salonek and 13 from Maria Hoffman.

St. Olaf (2-5 MIAC, 8-12) cruised to a 30-20 win in game one. The Oles then had three game point opportunities in game two, but had a pair of service errors and the Wildcats took the game 36-34.

St. Kate's controlled the final two games. The 'Cats hit .432 in thier 30-23 game three win and held St. Olaf to -.023 hitting in the final game.

Jess Levin had 14 kills and Chris Brook 10 for the Oles in the loss.

The two wins in the MIAC is the most for St. Kate's since 1996, when they won three.
