Volleyball splits at first day HU/CSC Tournament

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team split its first two matches at the Hamline/St. Kate's Invitational on Friday night.

In the first match, Hamline dealt St. Olaf a 30-17, 30-19 and 30-24 loss. Kim Smisek had a team-best nine kills for the Oles and Tasha Simmons had 13 for the Pipers (5-1, 0-0 MIAC).

In the nightcap, St. Olaf coasted to a 30-19, 30-16 and 30-10 win over Finlandia University. Smisek had 15 kills and Paige Olson 10 in the win.

The Oles (3-3, 0-0 MIAC) play Grinnell College at 11 a.m. and Bethany Lutheran College at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
