Volleyball wins one, loses one in final day at NCC

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The St. Olaf volleyball team lost to host North Central College but defeated Aurora University on Sunday to finish the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Volleyball Tournament 3-1.

The Oles (10-9, 2-5 MIAC) have won four of their last five and nearly took down North Central, losing a five-game match (30-26,18-30,29-31,30-25,15-13) with the eventual tournament champions.

St. Olaf battled to 14-13, from a 14-9 deficit, in the deciding fifth game.

Kim Smisek had a career-high 25 kills for the Oles in the loss and 19 in the three-game (30-24, 30-21, 30-21) win over Aurora in the day's second match, extending her match double-digit kill streak to 12.

Paige Olson and Jess Levin had 17 kills apiece in the loss to NCC, while Alyssa Williams added six aces.

Levin was the Oles' representative on the six-player all-tournament team.

St. Olaf plays at Bethel University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
