Volleyball takes Carleton in five

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kim Smisek had 22 kills and Jane Meyer 21 as host St. Olaf rallied from an 8-6 deficit in the decisive fifth game to defeat Carleton College on Saturday at Skoglund Center.

The win, by scores of 14-30, 30-27, 28-30, 30-28 and 15-12, gave St. Olaf (13-10, 5-6 MIAC) its first win over Carleton since 2002.

The playoffs-bound Knights (19-4, 7-4 MIAC) were led by Annie Eckhoff's 18 kills and Laura Barsness' 22 digs.

St. Olaf defensive specialist Alyssa Williams, who missed Wednesday's match at Hamline with an ankle injury, braved the hobbled to get a team-best 21 digs.

Kelly Prunty added a career-best 68 set assists while Jess Levin and Paige Olson chipped in 17 and 12 kills.

Carleton's Megan La Chappelle, Sarah Kunelius and Samantha Hendricks added 16, 15 and 14 kills in the loss.
