Oles drop HU, BU to stay unbeaten

RIVER FALLS, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team defeated a pair of MIAC foes - Hamline University (22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 25-19, 15-11) and Bethel University (25-13, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18) - in the final rounds of the Wis.-River Falls Tournament to improve to 8-0.
St. Olaf rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take the final two sets, 25-19 and 15-11, in the win over Hamline.
Kim Smisek had a team-best 24 kills against the Pipers who had won the previous five matches between the schools, dating to 2005.
Jess Levin had 17 kills in each win, and hit .484 in the four-set victory over Bethel.
Smisek and Levin were named the the All-Tournament Team.
St. Olaf plays at the College of Saint Benedict Tournament next weekend. The Oles open with host Saint Ben's and have matches against Hamline, Wis.-Eau Claire and Bethany Lutheran over the two-day event.
