No. 8 Tommies outlast Oles

ST. PAUL, Minn. - No. 8 St. Thomas outlasted visiting St. Olaf in four sets - 25-21, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-19 - for an MIAC volleyball win on Wednesday night.

St. Olaf led 9-1 in the pivotal third set, but UST rallied to score eight of the last 11 and the final three points in the set to take a 2-1 advantage in the match.

The Oles (9-4, 0-1 MIAC) were led by Jess Levin, who had 16 kills and hit a match-best .289.

The effort was the fifth 15-plus kill effort for Levin in the team's last eight matches.

Kim Smisek added 14 kills and Alyssa Williams 18 digs St. Olaf in the loss.

The Tommies (8-1, 1-0 MIAC) were paced by Kyley Crotty's 17 and Katie McCaffrey's 15 kills.

Katie Kremer chipped in 25 digs for St. Thomas, which has now won 16 straight matches against MIAC opponents, dating to 2006.

St. Olaf will host the College of St. Catherine on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The match can be seen live via the St. Olaf Athletics Website.
