Volleyball downs Gusties in five

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kim Smisek had 20 kills and Jess Levin 19 as the St. Olaf volleyball team defeated Gustavus Adolphus College in five sets at Skoglund Center on Wednesday night.

Kelly Prunty had 49 set assists for the Oles (11-4, 2-1 MIAC), who earned their first win over Gustavus since 2005.

Meghan Gehring had a team-best 16 kills for the Gusties (13-2, 1-1 MIAC).

St. Olaf went on a 6-1 run to take a 12-6 lead in the decisive fifth game.

Gustavus then scored four straight to get within 12-10. Levin and Smisek then traded kills in the games last three points to earn the win.

St. Olaf plays at the Central College Invitational in Pella, Iowa this weekend.
