Oles' heartbroken in fifth again, Cobbers prevail

MOORHEAD, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team traded games with its second ranked opponent in as three days but, like in Wednesday's loss at No. 22, the Oles dropped a five-set (25-18, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-13) match to No. 15 Concordia College on Friday night.
The Oles (12-9, 2-3 MIAC) have now gone to five sets in five of their nine losses.
Concordia (10-2, 3-1 MIAC) broke an 11-11 tie in the decisive fifth game with three straight points and eventually earned a 15-13 win over St. Olaf, which had a match-best 16 kills from Jess Levin.
Kim Smisek added 15 and Paige Olson 11 for the Oles in the loss, their fifth straight and ninth in their last 12.
The Cobbers' Jenna Green had 14 kills in the win.
St. Olaf is off this weekend before returning to action on Wednesday with a home match against MIAC foe Saint Mary's University.
