Ole volleyball team sweeps to stay perfect

MENOMONIE, Wis. - The St. Olaf volleyball team rode Kim Smisek for 20 and 13 kills in a pair of victories - over Luther College and host UW-Stout - on Friday night to stay undefeated at 7-0.

Smisek hit .500 in the three-game sweep of UW-Stout, making just one error. She added 11 digs to help the Oles to their second straight 7-0 start. Last season, St. Olaf started 8-0.

Melissa Burch chipped in eight kills in the win over the host Blue Devils (7-2), while Kelly Prunty had 30 set assists.

In the opening four-set win over Luther Prunty had 42 set assists and four kills, with no errors. Katie Wolfram added eight kills while Burch and senior middle Paige Olson had seven.

St. Olaf finishes play at the UW-Stout Invitational tomorrow with a 10 a.m. match against Viterbo College (11-4) and a 12 p.m. meeting with Finlandia University (5-2).
