Oles cruise in first round of MIAC's

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Kim Smisek had 19 kills to lead St. Olaf to a three-set win over Saint Mary's University on Tuesday night in the first round of the MIAC Playoffs at the Skoglund Center.

Smisek hit .342 for the Oles (26-3), who hit .365 as a team in the win.

Jessica Larson's nine kills led Saint Mary's, which had big leads in each of the first two sets. SMU led the first 7-1 and the second 7-2 before the Oles stormed back.

Kelly Prunty had 39 set assists and four aces in the win. She served the Oles to a 7-0 run in the first set.

Melissa Burch added nine kills and Alyssa Williams 12 digs for St. Olaf.

St. Olaf will play second-seeded St. Thomas on Thursday at Concordia University-St. Paul at 7:30 p.m.
