Volleyball tops St. Catherine, St. Scholastica

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - No. 16 St. Olaf volleyball team beat St. Catherine University (26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 25-27) and St. Scholastica (25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23) on the final day of Saint Ben's Holiday Innvitational. St. Olaf and host Saint Ben's each went 4-0 in to share the event title.

No. 16 St. Olaf def. St. Catherine University 3-2
Kim Smisek had 26 kills and 22 digs as the Oles survived the five-set match with St. Kate's.

Kelly Prunty had set assists for St. Olaf.

The Oles, down 5-4 in the decisive set, went on an 11-2 run to close the match.

Melissa Burch added 13 kills and Ariel Carlson 12, while Kristin Boyum had 19 digs in the victory.

Brittni Wangerin and Kayla Sis had 19 kills apiece to pace the Wildcats.

Smisek had 20 kills and 19 digs in the Oles' final win of the tournament.Carlson added 14 kills, while Kirstee Rotty and Boyum had 17 and 16 digs.

Paige Hardy and Anna Zyvoloski each had 18 kills to lead St. Scholastica.

Prunty was named the tournament's co-most valuable player. Smisek was also a member of the all-tournament team.
