St. Olaf volleyball tops Cornell College, Luther College

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The No. 13 St. Olaf volleyball team defeated Cornell College (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) and Luther College (23-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-20)on Saturday in Oles' second day of the IIAC-MIAC Border Battle.

Kim Smisek had 18 kills and hit .548 in the Oles' first victory of the day.

Katie McDonald had 11 digs for St. Olaf, while Smisek added nine and Kristin Boyum had eight.

Kelly Prunty had 32 set assists in the victory.

Samantha Pedersen led Cornell College (11-9, 3-1 IIAC) in kills with eight.

Smisek had 17 kills and 16 digs, while Melissa Burch and Katie Wolfram each added 12. Kirstee Rotty had 14 digs.

Kelly Prunty had 51 set assists in the win, the Oles' 12th straight.

Hannah Walker had 21 kills for Luther (7-12, 1-2 IIAC).

The MIAC went a perfect 16-0 at Saint Ben's site and 10-6 at the Loras College site in the event.

St. Olaf (17-3, 4-0 MIAC) plays Bethel University in a MIAC match on Oct. 8 in St. Paul, Minn.
