Bethel defeats No. 12 Oles in straight sets 3-0

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bethel University topped No. 12 St. Olaf in straight sets -- 25-23, 25-23 and 25-6 -- in an MIAC volleyball match on Friday night.
Katie Wolfram had 11 kills, while Kim Smisek had 10 kills and nine digs. Kristin Boyum had 13 digs and Kelly Prunty had 28 set assists for the Oles in the loss.
The host Royals overcame a late St. Olaf rally in the first set and a 17-14 deficit in the second set to get to a 2-0 lead. Bethel then raced to a 5-0 lead in the decisive third set and never turned back. St. Olaf made 12 errors and hit -.269 in the final set.
Nicole Wriedt led Bethel (9-12, 2-4 MIAC) with nine kills, while Hannah Parks had ten digs.
The loss ended a 12-match winning streak for St. Olaf (17-4, 4-1 MIAC).
The Oles play Augsburg College in a MIAC match in Minneapolis on Saturday.
