NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The 12th-ranked St. Olaf volleyball team defeated visiting Concordia College -- 16-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 -- in a MIAC volleyball match on Saturday at Skoglund Center.

Kim Smisek had 19 kills in the win for St. Olaf (25-4, 8-1 MIAC) while Melissa Burch added 10 kills and hit .500.

Jenna Green led the Cobbers (21-5, 7-2 MIAC) in kills with 20, while Brooke Tastad had 12.

The Oles' Kelly Prunty had 47 set assists and Amy Sykora had 36 for Concordia.

After dropping the first set, St. Olaf raced to a 5-0 lead lead in the second set and never turned back. The Oles battled back from a 16-13 deficit in the third set to win 25-23 and went on a 9-4 run midway through the fourth set on the way to the victory.

With the win, St. Olaf kept up in the race for the MIAC's regular season title. The Oles and St. Thomas (23-4, 9-1 MIAC) each have one loss in league play. St. Olaf, which defeated St. Thomas in the league opener in September, has matches with Hamline (9-16, 2-7 MIAC) and Carleton (10-12, 2-7 MIAC) remaining. St. Thomas has only one conference match left, a road test at Saint Ben's (17-9, 6-3 MIAC) on Wednesday.

St. Olaf plays at Hamline on Wednesday in St. Paul.
