Westby, Lee finish first and second as women's cross country wins MIAC Championships

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Maren Westby won and Emma Lee finished second as the St. Olaf women's cross country team had each of its five scoring runners finish in the top 20 on the way to a a team title at the MIAC Championships on Saturday.
The Oles' team title is the ninth in school history and the first since 2002.
The Oles were led by Westby's 22:00.7 and Lee's 22:01.7. Sophomore Sophie Pietrick and junior Hannah Dennis were 15th and 16th with 23:22.9 and 23:24.9.
Westby's conference individual title was the first for a St. Olaf woman since Megan Daymont won back-to-back crowns in 2001 and 2002.
St. Olaf got their first place win with 53 points. St. Thomas was second with 89 points while Carleton third with 92.
The team's MIAC title came minutes before the Oles' volleyball team clinched a share of the MIAC regular season title with a three-set sweep of Carleton.
The Oles race at the NCAA Div. III Central Regional competition on Nov. 13 in Waverly, Iowa.
