NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Jessica Ptachick made 29 of her 51 saves in a penalty-ridden second period to help the St. Olaf women's hockey team get its first win of the winter with a 3-2 victory over visiting Concordia College-Moorhead.

St. Olaf (1-6-0, 1-2-0 MIAC) had five penalties in the second period, but Ptachick saved each of the 14 shots on those power plays to preserve the team's 2-1 lead.

The Oles added a Katie Iraci goal in the third period to take a 3-1 lead. Concordia came within one on Abby Taffe's second score of the game with 7:16 left, but St. Olaf held on behind Ptachick's performance.

St. Olaf took a 2-0 lead on goals from Margot Fleming and Nicole Stumpf at 8:10 and 8:42 of the first period.

The teams meet tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the final game of the series.
