Women's hoops thumps Luther 79-52

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Katie Lauer's 17 points led four Oles with at least 15 as St. Olaf thumped visiting Luther College 79-52 on Tuesday in a non-conference women's basketball game at Skoglund Center.

Lauer went 4-for-5 and Sam Zopfi 5-for-7 from three-point range as the Oles, who were 4-of-31 in the first two games, went 12-of-21 as a team from deep. Zopfi finished with 15 points while Erin Haglund and Mackenzie Wolter 16 each in the win.

Luther's Sam Jewell went 7-for-9 for a team-best 16 points to lead Luther (1-3).

St. Olaf (3-0) led 29-25 with 1:08 left in the first half and then went on a 13-3 run over the next two-plus minutes to take control.

The Oles' 3-0 start is the first since 1996-97.
