Tommies overtake Ole women in final minutes

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The University of St. Thomas went on a 10-0 run in the final 1:59 to defeat St. Olaf 68-59 in a MIAC women's basketball game on Monday night at the Skoglund Center.

Rachel Booth had 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Tommies (14-5, 13-3 MIAC), who went 23-for-25 from the free throw line to escape with the win.

Mackenzie Wolter had 20 points to pace St. Olaf (9-10, 6-10 MIAC). The Oles took a 59-58 lead with 2:32 left on a pair of Elise Raney free throws to break the game's eighth tie.

Raney finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks. The double-double was the third for Raney, who broke the St. Olaf career record with her seven blocks.

St. Olaf committed only 13 turnovers to the Tommies' 22, but were outrebounded (43-36) for only the fifth time this season.

The Oles, who have lost three straight for the first time this season, play at Augsburg College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
