NORTHFIELD, Minn. - St. Thomas held off St. Olaf for a 2-1 MIAC men's hockey win on Saturday night at Northfield Ice Arena.

St. Olaf held a 35-26 advantage in shots but trailed 2-0 for most of the game. The Tommies (12-9-2, 7-5-2 MIAC) had goals from Rob Vannelli and Rob Philipp. Philipp's goal came and 5:11 of the second period to make it 2-0. The game stayed at that score until the Oles' Jeff Warren put St. Olaf on the board, with an extra skater, at 18:49 of the third.

The loss leaves the Oles at 10 points in the crowded MIAC race for a playoff spot. The league's bottom five teams are within two points of each other, including four with 10 points.

St. Olaf finishes the regular season with two series against teams currently with 10 points - Augsburg College next weekend and Saint John's Feb. 18-19.
