Baseball falls to Bowdoin, tops Fontbonne to close Florida trip

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The St. Olaf baseball team dropped a 12-5 game to Bowdoin before beating Fontbonne 9-2 on Friday to finish its 11-game stint in Flordia.

Bowdoin scored seven times in the final three innings to break a 5-5 tie and defeat St. Olaf 12-5.

Matt Ruane went 5-for-6 with four RBIs for the Polar Bears (9-3).

Sam Maus went 2-for-3 while Erik Nelson and Adam Johnson were each 2-for-4 for the Oles in the loss.

St. Olaf 9, Fontbonne 2
Maus was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, while starter Joey Voss pitched six solid inning as St. Olaf defeated Fontbonne. Voss went six innings, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs. Brandon Agneberg pitched to perfect innings of relief and Erik Olson pitched a scoreless ninth.

St. Olaf (12-3) held a 3-2 before erupting for six runs in the top of the eighth.

The Oles' Jim Blissenbach and Brady Sand were also 2-for-4 and Dan Lee delivered a pinch hit, two-run single in the eighth-inning rally.

Nick Platipodis went 3-for-4 for the Griffins (4-10) in the loss.
