Ole women down UW-Eau Claire for fifth straight win

NORTHFIELD, Minn.- The St. Olaf women's tennis team extended their winning streak to five matches by defeating the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 9-0 Friday afternoon at Carlson Courts.

The Oles swept the three doubles matches to take command of the match. The teams of Abby Ho and Christine Muller, Caitlin Harper and Claire Carlson, and Sarah Magnuson and Julia Ellis were victorious for St. Olaf. Ho and Muller are now 9-3 for the season at first doubles. Harper and Carlson improved to 9-2 while Magnuson and Ellis earned their eighth win against just one loss.

St. Olaf won all six of the singles matches to finish off a clean sweep. Winning for the Oles were Ho, Muller, Harper, Ellis, Carlson, and Magnuson. Ho, Muller, and Ellis won their matches while dropping just nine games. Harper won a tight first set in a tie-breaker before winning a more comfortable second set. Carlson did just the opposite by winning the first set easily before winning a close second set 7-5. After splitting the first two sets, Magnuson won her match in a super tie-breaker 10-2.

The next match for St. Olaf is on Wednesday afternoon when the Oles host Carleton. Carleton and St. Olaf are currently both undefeated in the MIAC. The Knights are 7-0 and the Oles are 6-0 in conference play.
