Men's golf has steady performance at Augsburg Invite

HAM LAKE, Minn. - The St. Olaf men's golf team had a steady outing at the Augsburg Invitational, finishing ninth among 14 represented institutions at the two-day event at Majestic Oaks Golf Course.

The Oles' Justin Volling was team's top individual, shooting a two-day 149 (+5) to finish 12th (t). Ryan Lubinsky and Jimmy Konsky, who was playing on the second St. Olaf team in the event, each shot eight-over par for the event.

Volling was two-under over his final nine holes on Saturday and even on the front on Sunday. He made a double bogey on 13 and bogies on 16 and 17 to finish with a second round 75.

Konsky fired 11 straight pars to finish his round on Saturday with a 74. He made four birdies on Sunday, but had five bogeys on the back nine to finish with a 78.

The Oles' Mark Marotz and Lubinsky had the team's best Sunday scores,at 74. Marotz made three straight bogeys to close the front nine before rallying for nine straight pars to finish. Lubinsky made three birdies, 10 pars and five bogeys in his final round.
