ST. PETER, Minn.- David Rosenthal's goal with just over two minutes remaining was the game-winner as the St. Olaf men's soccer team topped eighth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus 2-1 in their MIAC opener on Wednesday afternoon.

With the score tied at 1-1, Rosenthal took a pass from Kenzie Lund, rounded the goalie and scored with just 2:17 on the clock. The goal was the sophomore forwards team-leading fourth of the season.

Coming into the game, Gustavus Adolphus had risen to number eight in the rankings following a win over the University of California-Santa Cruz.

The Oles took a surprise 1-0 lead after ten minutes, when senior Blake Dressen scored off a cross from Rosenthal. The early goal was Dressen's first of the year and only the second surrendered by the Gusties this year.

Zack Brown scored his third goal of the year for the Gusties in the middle of the first half to level the score. Brown's goal was assisted by Jackson Zoellner.

The Gusties, who came in averaging three goals per game, outshot the Oles 18-14 but goalie Harry Ullmann only needed to make two saves to earn the win.

The Oles will look to extend their perfect start to the year on Saturday when they travel to Saint Mary's.
