WINONA, Minn.- Nick Lund scored the only goal of the game in the second half, as the St. Olaf men's soccer team topped Saint Mary's 1-0 Saturday afternoon in Winona.
Early in the second half, two transfers combined for the only goal. Lund, a transfer from Wisconsin, scored at 59:04 on an assist from Hamline transfer Stephen Johnson.
St. Olaf outshot the Cardinals 17-8, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Lund led the Oles with four, while Juamaine Venter had two for Saint Mary's.
The Oles goalkeeper Harry Ullmann only needed to make two saves to earn his fourth shutout, and sixth win, of the year. Chris Williams made six saves in net for the Cardinals.
St. Olaf has won its first six games of the fall, including its first two MIAC games. The Oles travel to UW-Superior tomorrow as they look to keep their perfect start to the season alive.
