UST races to halftime lead in football win over visiting Oles

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Fourth-ranked St. Thomas raced to first half lead on the way to a 49-14 MIAC football win over St. Olaf on Saturday afternoon in the league opener for each school.
Dan Dobson was 17-for-24 for 160 yards with a touchdown and interception for the Oles (2-1, 0-1 MIAC) in the setback. St. Olaf had 233 yards of offense in the second half but a mere 29 in the first two quarters.
The Tommies (3-0, 1-0 MIAC) had a four-touchdown first half from running back Colin Tobin on the way to 21-0 lead after a quarter and 35-0 at the break.
The St. Olaf defense was paced by Nick Brandjord, who had an interception and six solo tackles.
Four of the Tommies' seven drives in the first half started in St. Olaf territory and two others within the UST 42-yard line.
St. Olaf returns home for Saturday's homecoming meeting with Gustavus Adolphus College.
