ST. PETER, Minn. - Gustavus Adolphus College outlasted St. Olaf in a five-set MIAC volleyball match on Wednesday night at Gus Young Court.
The Gustie win offset a 19-kill night for St. Olaf middle Ari Carlson, who hit .385 in the loss. Katie Wolfram added 12 kills for the Oles (6-7, 0-2 MIAC).
Angela Ahrendt had 18 kills to lead three Gusties in double-digits. Emily Phillips had 12 and Olivia Warren 11.
St. Olaf, which had a team-best 18 digs from Kristin Boyum, dropped each of the first two sets before rallying for convincing 25-12 and 25-18 wins in the third and fourth.
Gustavus raced to a 5-1 lead in the fifth on two kills from Ahrendt and one from Warren. The Oles got as close as three, at 7-4, before the Gusties scored the next three points and never turned back.
