Dobson throws for four touchdowns, runs for another as Oles top Gusties 44-26

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Dan Dobson threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 139 yards and a score as St. Olaf pulled away for a 44-26 MIAC football win over visiting Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday afternoon at Manitou Field.
Leon Clark added 125 rushing yards on 27 carries for the Oles (3-1, 1-1 MIAC), who extended their winning streak to nine against Gustavus.
The Gusties' Logan Becker rushed for 76 yards and threw for 165 yards and touchdown in the loss.
Dobson was 19-for-36 through the air, with an interception. He had 11 rushes and was sacked just once. Dobson connected with Jake Schmiesing seven times for 81 yards, including two touchdowns. Schmiesing's 10-yard touchdown reception with 6:05 left in the third quarter gave St. Olaf a 25-14 lead, capping a 15-0 rally.
Gustavus trailed 10-0 before scoring twice to take a brief second quarter lead. The Gusties (0-3, 0-1 MIAC) blocked a punt for a touchdown with 12:02 left in the half and then completed a 6-play, 77-yard drive with 5:50 left for a 14-10 advantage.
St. Olaf then countered with a 10-play, 49-yard march, capped by a 5-yard TD throw from Dobson to Stephen Asp with 15 seconds left in the quarter.
St. Olaf outgained Gustavus 555-330, helped by the Ole defense which limited the Gusties to a pair of three-and-outs and 16 yards of offense on their first two drives of the second half.
Drew Eid had an interception and a team-best nine tackles for St. Olaf, while Alec Saunders had 10 tackles and Brad Kruckeberg six and an interception for Gustavus.
St. Olaf plays at No. 5 Bethel University next Saturday at 1 p.m.
