Men's soccer falls 1-0 at St. John's

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn.- The St. Olaf men's soccer team suffered their first MIAC loss of the fall as they lost 1-0 to St. John's Saturday afternoon in Collegeville.
The Johnnies came into the game having lost their first four conference games, but Matt Carson scored his first goal of the year with 15 minutes remaining in the game. Carson's goal was assisted by Zane Heinselman and Michael Coborn.
St. John's outshot St. Olaf 18-16 for the game, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. The Johnnies also had a slender 8-7 advantage in corner kicks.
St. Olaf was led by the Nick and Kenzie Lund, who had seven of the Oles shots between them. Blake Dressen led St. Olaf with two shots on goal.
St. John's goalie Ryan Brutger made seven saves, while Harry Ullmann made eight for the Oles.
With the loss, St. Olaf's record falls to 8-2-1, 2-1-1 MIAC. The Johnnies improved to 5-5-0, 1-4-0 in conference play.
The Oles look to rebound when they host Bethany Lutheran College in a non-conference game on Tuesday, in their first home game since September 11. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
