Ole women take early lead at MIAC golf championships

COON RAPIDS, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's golf team had five in the top 11, including Maxine Carlson's second place 75 to take a first round lead at the three-day MIAC Championships at Bunker Hills Golf Course.

The Oles, who at 309 have a 12-stroke advantage over second place Gustavus (321), had career best rounds from Carlson, Vanessa Kleckner (77, +5, 3rd place-t) and Linde Sundell (78, +6, 5th). Sundell had the most impressive stretch of the day, playing holes 13 through 17 at 3-under par to finish at 6-over for the round.

Carlson and Sundell made four birdies each.

The team's top two scorers during the fall -- Molly Erickson and Molly Knutson -- had rounds of 79 and 81.
