Women's soccer battles to 0-0 tie at St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn.- In a battle between two teams in the running for the MIAC lead, the St. Olaf women's soccer team tied St. Thomas 0-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Coming into the game, the Oles and Tommies were both situated in the top five in the MIAC and nothing separated the two teams after 110 minutes of play.
St. Thomas outshot St. Olaf 12-8, including an 7-6 edge in shots on target. The Oles were led by Emma Crumley and Lindsay Howard's two shots apiece. Katy Scherer lead the Tommies with five shots, three on target.
Nora Forbes made seven saves in goal for St. Olaf in earning her sixth shutout of the year. St. Thomas goalie Allie Byron saved six shots to keep the Oles off the scoreboard.
With the tie, St. Olaf's record is 8-1-3, 4-0-2 MIAC. The Oles are currently atop the conference standings on 14 points with Macalaster and Saint Benedict just one point behind. The Tommies are 5-3-2, 3-1-2 MIAC.
