Oles race to victory at UMD's Pine Hill Invitational

CARLTON, Minn. - The St. Olaf women's cross country team, led by junior Sophie Pietrick, won the University of Minnesota-Duluth's Pine Hill Invitational on Saturday and had each of its five scoring runners place in the top 10.

Pietrick finished second and ran a career best 22:35. The next four Oles finished close behind. Maren Westby finished fourth (22:50), Rachel Dean fifth (22:55), Christine Muller seventh (23:04) and Andi Gomoll tenth (23:33).

St. Olaf, with 27 points, beat teams from all corners of Minnesota, Division II and III. Winona finished second with 56, UMD third with 72, the College of Saint Ben's fourth with 79, Concordia College-Moorhead fifth with 131, Bemidji State sixth with 185 and the UW-Superior seventh with 205.

The Oles will continue to rely on solid front runners and team depth as they head into the final weeks of the season.

The team competes at the Brooks Invitational in Oshkosh, Wis. next week, the last meet before the MIAC Championships.
