ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Olaf junior Sophie Pietrick was named the MIAC's cross country athlete of the week after she ran a career-best 22:35 at the Pine Hill Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota-Duluth last weekend to finish second at the event.

Pietrick's 6K time ranks seventh-best in St. Olaf history. She finished just 13 seconds behind Morgan Place of UMD, a Division II All-American.

As a team, the Oles finished with fewer than half the points of runner-up Winona State. The win marks the third first-place finish of the season for St. Olaf.

The Oles, who were ranked first in the latest regional poll and 14th in the latest national poll, will send their top runners to the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invite on Saturday, their final appearance before the MIAC Championships on Oct. 29 at Como Park in St. Paul.
