Volleyball falls in five at SCU

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Olaf volleyball team dropped a five-set match -- 28-26, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25, 15-8 -- at St. Catherine University on Wednesday night, despite a 14-kill night from Ari Carlson.

Carlson hit .379 in the loss, with only three errors in 29 attempts. Katie Wolfram added 11 kills and Melissa Burch nine kills in the loss for St. Olaf (10-13, 2-6 MIAC).

St. Catherine was led by Brittni Wangerin and Kelsey Wirtanen, who had 21 and 17 kills in the win.

SCU raced to a 5-1 lead in the decisive fifth set and never trailed.

St. Olaf plays at Augsburg College on Friday at 7 p.m.
