Ole men top SMU 3-2 to finish MIAC Showcase

BLAINE, Minn. - Ross Trousdale and Jeff Warren each collected a goal and an assist as St. Olaf topped Saint Mary's University 3-2 on Sunday in a non-conference game between league opponents at the MIAC Showcase at Fogerty Arena.
St. Olaf, which trailed 1-0 into the third period, scored three unanswered in the final frame to get the win. John Avino and Warren scored even-strength goals at the 4:00 and 8:33 marks of the third. Trousdale then all but sealed the win with his insurance goal at the 16:09 mark on a feed from Warren.
Steve Papciak made 18 saves to get the victory in net for the Oles (1-0-1), who had 39 shots to Saint Mary's 20 in the win.
SMU's Ryan Griffiths scored an extra-skater goal with one second left in regulation.
St. Olaf returns to action on Tuesday with an exhibition game against the Norwegian U18 National Team at 7 p.m. at Northfield Ice Arena.
