NEW ORLEANS - The St. Olaf women's cross country team dropped to No. 2 in the Central Region after six consecutive weeks at No. 1, according to the U.S. Track and Field Coaches Association poll.
No. 1 Carleton College moved ahead of the Oles after winning the MIAC Championships last weekend with runners finishing first through third. St. Olaf, which finished second at the event, had all five scorers finish in the top 15.
St. Olaf finished ahead of Carleton at two meets earlier in the season - at the St. Olaf Invitational and the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invite.
The teams will race for the Central Region title and a ticket to the NCAA DIII Championships on Nov. 12 in Waverly, Iowa.
