Concordia and St. Olaf women skate to 4-4 tie

MOORHEAD, Minn.- After losing 6-3 to the Concordia on Friday night, the St. Olaf women's hockey team earned a 4-4 draw against the Cobbers on Saturday afternoon.
With the Oles trailing 4-3 late in the third period, Nicole Stumpf scored a penalty shot at 14:07 to eventually send the game into overtime. Despite each team having four shots in the overtime session, neither managed to score as the game ended 4-4. Concordia had a goal disallowed in overtime.
The Cobbers took a 1-0 lead at the 5:14 mark of the first period on Abby Taffe's power-play goal. Breann Julius assisted Taffe's tally. A few minutes later, the Oles knotted the score at 1-1 on a power-play goal of their own. Tara Reyelts put St. Olaf on the board, assisted by Sarah Edgerton. Before the first period was over, Taffe scored her second goal of the period to put Concordia ahead again.
The second period saw no goals until the teams combined to score three goals in the last minute and a half of the period. Reyelts' second goal of the game, a power-play takky that was assisted by Alison Umland and Christina Benjamin, leveled the score at 2. Taylor Orr then put the Oles ahead 3-2 just 61 seconds later following an assist by Alex Meyer. Before the period was complete, the Cobbers' Breann Julius scored to make the score 3-3 heading to the final period.
At the 13:19 mark of the third, Rachel Stevenson put Concordia ahead 4-3. However, Stumpf's penalty shot meant the Oles left Moorhead with a point.
