Women's hockey picks up first win of season

SAINT PAUL, Minn.- A third period goal from senior forward Alex Meyer earned the St. Olaf women's hockey team their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Hamline at Warner Coliseum on Friday night.

After tying three of their first five games, Meyer's goal at the 9:46 mark of the third period was enough to improve the Oles to 1-2-3, 1-1-1 MIAC. Meyer's goal was an even-strength goal and was assisted by Nicole Stumpf.

St. Olaf held a 34-24 edge in shots over the course of the game, as neither team was able to capitalize on two power-plays apiece. Ali McKeever kept earned the shutout in goal for the Oles, making 24 saves to keep Hamline (1-3-1, 0-2-1) off the scoreboard. Pipers goalie Sarah Schneekloth made 33 saves but picked up the loss.
